THE couples GUIDE
This is a collection of tips, insight, and things I’ve learned along the way to help your session feel natural, smooth, and exactly how it should.

Planning your session
There are a few key elements that help bring your dream session together, and everything is flexible to fit what you’re envisioning. If you ever have a fun or out-of-the-box idea, please share it — I’m almost always on board!
Gathering inspiration is one of my favorite parts of the process, and it can help you get a clearer feel for the style you want. If you have any Pinterest boards, send them my way! And if there are specific poses, concepts, or creative ideas you’d love to try, I’d love to hear them.
Date:
When choosing a date for your couples session, think about the time of year and the overall feel you want. Some couples love a setting that matches their usual vibe, while others want something totally different — maybe a new season, a new location, or a completely different mood than their usual photos. Whether you’re drawn to cozy winter tones, fresh spring greens, golden summer fields, or bold fall colors, your personal style determines the perfect date.
Location:
The location of your session is up to you! It's important to consider what kind of mood you're drawn to as well as what represents the two of you. If you already have a location in mind, that's fantastic! If not, I'm always eager to get my creative juices flowing and scout for new spots. The first thing to decide is whether you’d like your session to have an urban or natural feel. Maybe go out to the forest and do a sweet and simple session, or we'll check out a rooftop parking garage and bring your muscle car. Coffee shops or a craft brewery would be a unique but fun look. The possibilities truly are endless.
Overwhelmed with choices? I'd be happy to give you my suggestion for the vibe you're going for.

OUtfit tips

Coordinate, don't match.
Choose colors that complement each other rather than wearing identical outfits. Neutrals and earth tones are always a great place to start.
Flowy is always a win.
Dresses and skirts that move beautifully add softness, movement, and a romantic feel to your photos.
Don't be afraid of color.
Whether it's a bold statement piece or a monochromatic look, color can make your images stand out in the best way.
Keep patterns simple.
Subtle patterns and textured fabrics add interest without taking attention away from you.
Neutrals never fail.
If you're stuck, black, white, denim, and earth tones are timeless and photograph beautifully in any location.
Most importantly: be yourself.
These aren't rules—just suggestions! The best outfits are the ones that make you both feel comfortable, confident, and like yourselves. Your connection is what makes the photos special.
Tell your story
Whether it's your family farm, favorite date spot, horses, dogs, or a place that means something to your relationship, meaningful aspects always make photos more personal.
